LIVONIA, MI – Susan Horowitz and Jan Stevenson, owners of Pride Source Media Group and publishers of Between The Lines weekly newspaper, will assume a majority interest in Q Syndicate, effective Jan. 1, 2009. Q Syndicate is the nation’s leading provider of content for LGBT publications, with columns and editorial features from some of the best freelance writers in today’s market.
“We are tremendously excited about this opportunity,” said Stevenson. “As publishers of Michigan’s weekly LGBT newspaper, we are well aware of the many challenges facing publishers today to provide high quality content and still contain costs. We have some exciting ideas to expand and add new products, to bring even more top quality content to LGBT publications at an affordable price through economies of scale.”
“As someone who has worked with freelance writers for 15 years here at Between The Lines, I am looking forward to working with the talented writers of Q Syndicate,” said Horowitz. “The newspaper business is changing rapidly, and I am excited by this opportunity to work with writers, editors and fellow publishers to stay on the cutting edge in this dynamic industry.”
Q Syndicate was founded in 1995 by David Bianco, and in 2001 the company was acquired by Todd Evans who is also the principle of Rivendell Media in New Jersey.
“I have loved running Q Syndicate,” said Evans. “So many publications rely on this quality content, and it has been a pleasure to work with our editor, Paula Martinac, staff and the many editors and publishers across the nation. I’ve been committed to building the gay press my whole career, and Q Syndicate has been an important asset, providing the best in gay content, consistently for 13 years.
“It’s time now for someone else to take the reins, and I am very gratified that Jan and Susan have stepped up. They are solid newspaper publishers and editors with stellar reputations, and I am looking forward to seeing how they’ll move Q Syndicate to the next level.”
